Giving Priority to Education

Growing up as a child from a family with below average income, my parents would always tell me that, since we were not rich, the only inheritance they can give me was my education. And they did allow me to get my education through their sacrifices during my elementary school days.

Education is important and for young people who are reading this, I encourage you to make education a priority. Let me recommend Western Internaitonal University (WIU) which has five campuses in the state of Arizona and two in international locations (India and China) and one in the world wide web, which they call WIO Interactive Online.

This university has been meeting eduacational needs for more than thirty years by providing bachelor, associatte and master Degree Programs to professionals. Their pool of professors are considered as masters in their fields so those who are thinking about Getting Started at WIU can be assured of quality and competitive education.

WIU offers a broad educational foundation that is highly focused on business and technology. They also help students get started on their education by helping them earn credits for the degree of their choice. You can learn more about this site at wintu.edu.

We'll Be Five Years This January

This January JIVE Youth will be celebrating its 5th anniversary.  JIVE, which means, Jesus Inspired, Valuing Eternity, is the youth ministry of Sumulong Baptist Church - Makati.  It held its first youth service on a Sunday in January almost five years ago.  The youth service was actually a follow up activity to the outreach at Fort Bonifacio High School which was under Mr. Bulan during that time.  There were some students from the school and other young people from other high schools in Makati who came to that service and a few of them are now the leaders and volunteers in JIVE Youth.

Since then, JIVE has been active in going into campuses to reach out to students trhough their student governments.  At present, we have open doors at Gen. Pio Del Pilar Natinal High School and at Pitogo High School.  We intend to share Christ through our outreach programs and through our summer youth camps to students in these schools.

Gadget Accessories

The youth of today are exposed to many different things that technology has to offer. The internet is just one of them and this gives them more exposure to a wider scope of things. They are also exposed to gadgets and technology items.

In our youth ministry alone many young men enjoy playing online games. I even see children who carry PSPs and some emjoy play stations of different and higher models at home. This is the culture of the new generation and we need to learn to use technology positively than become too over protective to the youth by keeping them away from these items.

A Cool new gaming accessories website U.K. has to offer is ChannelGoods.com. In this web site can be found different product offerings like gaming gears for Sony PSP (play station portable), Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS lite, Xbox 360, Sony PSP lite and Sony PS3. Those into these gadgets can find gaming accessories here and customize their gadgets to fit their preference and needs.

Just be responsible as parents to guide your children as they use these gadgets as they can be addictive. A tip is to schedule their play times and give them boundaries.

Photos From the Concert

The fund raising concert organized by SBC entitled "In Awe of A Great God" was a successful event as SBC was able to raise about P30,000 from it. Our participation as a ministry was a privilege and we are happy that we were able to contribute in this manner aside from the good feedback we had from Ted.

Below are some pictures of the music team as they played and sang with Ted Amper (first two photos), and our team while waiting for our turn to play (last photo)
