I remember one night as I was taking our youth to Makati from our mother church after a missions banquet, we passed by a motorcycle accident that just occurred and we saw a dead person covered with newspaper. We asked as we passed by and someone told us that it was a hit and run. And just recently my sister-in-law showed me a picture of a lady wearing a helmet, lying down on the street with lots of blood on the road. She took the picture along C5 on her way to work. It could also have been a hit and run.
The occurrence of motorcycle accidents have risen due to the increase of the number of motorcycle users. With more people trying to cut down on gas expenses by riding motorcycles, more lives are being put at risk. And I am being particular about hit and run accidents. Because the victims of these accidents usually don’t have the capability to pay extra for Lawyers to help them out. And many of the motorcycle users are young people and some don’t even have driver’s licenses.
That’s why it’s real important to always be on the right side of the law, making sure that those who don’t have licenses don’t drive. Also, wear the proper gear and drive the proper way, knowing that it is already a risk being on a motorcycle. Remember, the rules are there to protect you and provide a safer and better way for you to live.
